In the year 1971 the Battallion was declared as India Reserve Battallion and was centrally sponsored by Government of Indian and hence it was sent to different regions of Gujarat, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh. The Battallion was sent to Nagaland in 10/71 for the Naga Operation under the supervision of the then Commandant Mr. GS Gill and its headquarters was set up at Maram, Nagaland. The Battallion remained operational in Nagaland till 1973. During this period the battalion, under the supervision of the Indian Army played an important role in defeating the Naga rebels.

In 1974, the Battallion was stationed in the state of Assam to tackle the issue of foreign invasion and Extremism where Dispur became its headquarters of the battalion. Despite facing many hardships during this period the officers and the personnels of the Battallion displayed exemplary character in the fulfillment of their dutiesThe Battallion was sent to Tripura in June 1988 where it remained till 10/94. During this period the Battallion undertook effective actions against the rebels and terrorists in the state which was much appreciated by the Tripura Government. In 1991 when Tripura Armed Police rebelled, the Battallion undertook the responsibility of the protection of the Police Armoury and the state’s VIPs and fulfilled it. After performing satisfactorily in the sensitive area of Tripura the Battallion was brought and stationed at the national capital of India, Delhi wherein the headquarter of the Battallion was established in Kingsway Camp. During this period the companies of the Battallion satisfactorily performed duties of providing security to the VIPs and the Maintenance of law and order.

In may 1996, the A B C and D companies of the Battallion were sent for Naxal Operation in the Bastar region under the order of Director General of Police, Madhya Pradesh

Remaining two companies and the Battallion headquarters was stationed at Delhi. After this in 10/1996 Battallion was sent back to home State Madhya Pradesh and Battallions temporary headquarters was set up in the Mohani Colony, Shivpuri. In 1997, temporary headquarter of the Battallion was set up at kothi no. 32 Shivpuri. Meanwhile a demand for land was made to the MP Govt. as a result of which 25 hectare land, about 8 Kms from Shivpuri, on the Agra-Bombay highway in Village Chandrapura(under survey no. 472/2 and 457/1) was allotted for the establishment of the headquarters of the Battalion.

While on duty in Bastar, at 7 pm on 11/3/1998, the 4 companies averted the attempt of looting the station by about 1500 naxalites of the Tarlaguda Police station post. The police Personal of the companes along with the District Police Force responded vehemently and vigorously to the extreme firing of the naxalites there by about Nine naxalites of military dalam Till date it was the biggest harm done by the naxalites in MP and Andhra Pradesh. This was highly appreciated not only by the Madhya Pradesh Govt but also by the Andhra Pradesh Govt. and the awards were bestowed upon the respective members of the force.
